What falls outside this cost
For the website itself, your only costs are your plan, monthly or one-off, and the renewal of your domain name from the second year (about €12 a year). Some things fall outside that and are quoted separately, for example:
- An online shop instead of a simple site: selling directly online is still possible.
- A full redesign or a large new section: these bigger changes go through a fixed quote, never a surprise bill.

- Setup fees that inflate the bill. A low monthly fee can hide separate setup costs. Check the full cost before you sign up.
- A long lock-in period. A plan with no lock-in lets you leave whenever you want, with no penalty and no need to explain why.
- No legal pages at all. The legal pages need to be on the website from the moment it goes live in Spain, not added later on request.
- A domain name that isn't yours. Check that the domain name is registered in your name: that's what lets you keep it if you switch provider.
- Upkeep billed separately. Hosting, an SSL certificate, backups and security updates should sit inside the cost you see, not turn up as a separate bill later.
