What your website has to get right in Spain
Physiotherapy is a regulated health profession in Spain. That shapes what your website must show and what it may say. These are the points that matter.

Physiotherapy is VAT-exempt when it treats or prevents an injury or illness; relaxing or beauty massage outside a treatment is taxed at 21%. Some regions, such as Murcia, also require prior authorisation of health advertising, websites included: we wait for it before your site goes live. Prices exclude VAT (21% IVA on the mainland and the Balearics; the Canary Islands, Ceuta and Melilla have their own taxes). Your health services are VAT-exempt, so you usually can't deduct it: on the mainland and the Balearics the monthly price comes to €18.15. Domain name included for the first year, then about €12/year.

Frequently asked questions
Can I practise as a physiotherapist in Spain with a UK degree?
Only once it is recognised. New applications for a UK degree now go through homologation by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, which requires Spanish at B2 level. Recognitions already granted, including those given under Spain's Brexit transition rules to people who began their studies before 2021, keep their effect. After that you still need to join a Colegio and practise from an authorised centre.
What must my website show?
Under article 10 of the LSSI: your name, address and contact details, your NIF or NIE, your Colegio and colegiado number, your qualification and the country that issued it, any recognition in Spain, and the professional rules that apply to you. If you run an authorised practice, add its authorisation details, the regional health department that supervises it and its registration number; if you trade through a company, add its Registro Mercantil details.
Does my practice need to be registered as a health centre?
Yes. A physiotherapy practice needs prior authorisation from the regional health department and goes on the regional register (RD 1277/2003). Madrid also requires an authorisation if you only do home visits. The registration number must appear in any advertising that suggests health care, including your website.
Can I show patient reviews or testimonials?
Avoid them: Spanish health-advertising rules ban patient testimonials used to attract clients (RD 1907/1996, art. 4.7). We build trust with your qualifications, your approach and practical details instead.
Can I call myself a physiotherapist and osteopath?
Your Colegio's code of ethics asks you to present yourself only as a “Fisioterapeuta”, without adding another title. You can mention osteopathy among the techniques you are trained in. Osteopathy isn't a regulated profession in Spain.
Can a sports massage therapist offer treatment?
No. Sports massage therapist and quiromasajista are not regulated health professions, so they can offer wellness or relaxation services but can't claim to treat or rehabilitate injuries. Only authorised health centres may use wording that suggests health care.
Is physiotherapy VAT-exempt?
Yes, when the service treats or prevents an illness or injury and is provided by a health professional. Relaxing, beauty or slimming massage outside a treatment is taxed at 21%. Because your health services are exempt, you usually can't deduct the VAT on our invoice (only in part if you also sell taxed services or products).
How much does a website cost?
